ACTi KCM-5611 Review

Moved to www.NetworkCameraCritic.com

Kudos to ACTi for making what is one of the best cameras I’ve ever used. The KCM-5611 has very good crisp image quality during the day and the best low light performance I’ve seen on any camera at night, especially important is that they did so with 2MP 1080P resolution. Many cameras accomplish night vision with IR illuminators and this camera has IR illuminators, but it’s redundant because this camera performs very well with minimal light without the illuminators on and in color. It also has a very accurate auto-focus and 18X zoom. If you ever spend time manually focusing some cameras, you know that auto-focus is a big time saver and being able to remotely set the focal length/zoom is also valuable.

ACTi TCM-7811 Review

Moved to www.NetworkCameraCritic.com

In the endless choices of network cameras, what makes one stand out as being different? To me, it’s a camera that has a nice crisp constrasty image at night. The problem is most cameras use CMOS sensors, and while they have been getting better, they don’t perform as well as CCD sensors in low light. In the past, the only CCD cameras available had D1/VGA resoluton and were mostly analog cameras. Enter the ACTi TCM-7811 with the Sony EXView HAD Progressive Scan CCD sensor. A very good low light outdoor dome camera with MegaPixel resolution.

ACTi ACM-1231 MegaPixel Outdoor Camera

Moved to www.NetworkCameraCritic.com

ACTi makes some unique cameras in the marketplace that distinguish themselves. Most of their cameras use the same 1/3″ CMOS sensor with 1.3MP resolution. The value proposition with the 1231 is that it’s a commercial quality outdoor, day/night, vari-focal lens (about 4X zoom), megapixel camera with built-in IR illuminators at a price point that many other companies sell simple cameras without many of these features. Ideal for small businesses or home owners that want an affordable true outdoor camera. The camera retails for $619, but street price seems to be around $550.
